Its been a while….

Hello lovely people, 🙂

Its been such a long time since l last updated. I had nearly given up on this blog. But l am back with my latest work to show you

I have now created my own page on Facebook, come and have a look and say hi.

Anyway here are some of my recent creations, most of which you can see on Booblue crafts.

New creative challenge…

A few weeks ago… when discussing my mums birthday, my sister persuaded me that baking a birthday cake would be a good idea.

Having never baked a birthday cake – as such, before, it seemed a huge challenge but l decided that yes it might be a good idea.

So having spent a few weeks collecting together the many things l would need, and finding the right recipe for the 10 inch round cake tin l wanted to use, l was then ready for the big bake off.

Oh ,my… baking is tiring!!

I baked two sides of the Victoria Sponge, Filled with Jam and home made butter cream. I then crumb coated with a butter cream layer, and covered in fondant!

It proved no easy task. But l was happy to finish it, and l am just hoping that my mum loves her cake at our big birthday meal on Saturday.

Here is the cake….

My crochet is a bit slow at the moment. Im in the middle of a few projects, which l hope l can share with you sometime soon x

Crochet cushion

So here is my latest project in photos.

And here is the finished project 🙂

This is my round cushion. Which will eventually have pride of place on my bed! (first need to give the bedroom a complete revamp).

This Cushion is a very simple design. Its listed as a beginner project in the book, Cute and easy Crochet by Nicki Trench (Its a great little book and l got my copy as a Chrismas gift from my Amazon wish list). If you can handle basic stitches, then this is simple.

The hardest part seemed to be finding the round cushion pad. But l got mine from Dunelm.

This project can end up being quite pricey because you need 6 different colours and then to buy the cushion pad, but who ever said crafting was cheap!!!

I am now working on cushion number two. But this one wont be for myself , it will be for my mum, with a few more pastel shades, to suit her room. (Pics, when cushion is completed.)

On other news, l am loving the warmer days here in the UK and the sunshine between the showers. Cant wait until l can sit in the garden Crochet-ing my weekends away 🙂 Also, lm very excited because my lovely husband has got a new Camera, which will hopefully mean better photos for my blog!!

Hope your having a great weekend! xx

Charity auction!!!

A friend has been working very hard on setting up a charity auction with proceeds going to Invest in ME and Macmillan Cancer support.

People have donated lots of handmade items, amongst other items and bidding started yesterday but will finish on the 28th of April.

Please note that if bidding from outside the UK then delivery costs may be higher.

Go take a look…

Liebster award

I am still rather new to this blogging experience, and whilst l am really enjoying it, l still have lots
to learn, so l felt honoured to be nominated for a Liebster award by knitpurl83. (who has a fab blog)

The idea of this award is to highlight blogs with under 200 followers that deserve a look.

Here’s how I hold up my end of the bargain:

1. Post eleven facts about myself.
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set and create eleven questions for the people I’ve nominated.
3. Choose eleven people (with fewer than 200 followers) to give this award to and link to them in my post.
4. Go to their page and tell them.
5. Remember, no tag backs.

My 11 facts:

I love summer (Hurry up please)
I am newly married to my best friend 🙂
I love buying new things 😉
I love learning new things which is possibly why l love creating.

Snail pace

I haven’t been around much (appologies), everything seems to be on pause for me at the moment. Having a dip with my long term health condition, and other commitments taking up my time has meant that my crafts have had to take a back seat for the last couple of months.

However the last couple of days l have been experimenting with the world of cup cosies! Not something l ever thought l’d make. But these are great to make with scraps of yarn, they don’t take a lot of time and you can be as creative as you like.

So far l have made two. ImageImage

But l somehow  doubt l will stop at just two. I found them fun to make, and really easy.

These can dress up a boring plain mug, and they also protect your hands from hot drinks, so can prove very useful.

Happy crafting 🙂

Chunky bright yarn – fun

Hello readers,

I am loving the sunnier days at the moment, whilst its still not quite as warm as l would like, l am enjoying the brighter days. I am excited by the thought of summer, and last week l had great fun working with some spring/summer projects.

Having chosen some bright coloured chunky yarn, in no time at all l’d made a few ‘fun’ items.  I still consider myself a beginner to crochet, because although l have been doing some basic crochet stitches for a while now, its only quite recently l’ve become brave enough to try new things.

Anyway these items were very simple to make, and took no time at all to make. Image
